The Shuswap offers great sliding hills and winter play places to take on these timeless and exhilarating family traditions. The laughter and excitement will bring out the kid in all of us! Have a fire to warm cold hands and enjoy a hot lunch outside.

Centennial Hill | Blind Bay
Located on the corner of Blind Bay Rd. and Centennial Drive.

There’s nothing better than enjoying the beautiful views of Shuswap Lake, Blind Bay, and Copper Island while whipping down on one of our favorite sliding hills! Centennial Hill is a well-known, loved-by-locals, super exhilarating ride!
Kids can hike all the way to the top and come zipping down across the open field!
Be careful though! This is a super-fast and steep hill!

What to Bring:
- Bring a bag for your own garbage/ recyclables.
- Bring TP for there are no amenities here.
- We like to bring our propane firepit to this hill to enjoy the heat and light!
- Sleds and Helmets

Carlin Elementary School | Tappen
Carlin School is located right off the highway, making it a very easy and convenient weeknight sliding adventure! The hill is well used by the school kids and offers places to slide in both the upper and lower fields. Hold on tight! This is a slippery, packed down slope and you get going fast!
What to Bring
- Bring your sleighs and helmets
- There are garbage cans on-site, but no public washrooms on school grounds

White Lake Park | White Lake B.C.
Located at the John Evdokimoff Bike Park:

White Lake is a community gathering area and play place! Although there are not designated sliding hills here, the surrounding hills behind the playground (to the left side) offer several super fun runs! We love sliding at White Lake and have even been here on school sledding field trips!

- WL Park offers great amenities, such as a garbage, a washroom, and a covered picnic and viewing area.
- Bring your sleds and helmets

All Around BEST Winter Play Places for Families

Winter play places are those great go-to spots that you can go spend the day having fun with the family! Some have amenities which make it so easy and so FUN for those of us with littles to play all winter long! Here are a few of our favorites…

Sorrento Park | Sorrento
Sorrento park offers the perfect place for families to try snowshoeing in safe and gentle terrain and an easy-to-reach location. Encourage the family to try snowshoeing this winter! Among the trees, there is a short route around the perimeter of the park, next to a picturesque creek. Connect with the outdoors and have some fun at Sorrento Park!

Chase Memorial Park | Chase
Come and explore the beautiful shores of the Shuswap at the Chase Memorial Park! Fun in all seasons, this waterfront park boasts something for everyone! We love to come here in the wintertime when the water is low and the beach is long.
Explore the beautiful shallows and find all sorts of treasures on the frozen sands and ice pools. There is a great playground here for the kids, an excellent little walking loop around the grounds, and perhaps, the best part, this is a perfect place to watch the trains come by! Pack the winter beach picnic and enjoy the beauty of the Shuswap in Chase!

White Lake Park | White Lake
One of the best things about winter is an old fashioned family day, ice skating, playing hockey, and fishing on a sparkling frozen lake. Located in the heart of the South Shuswap, White Lake is a year-round recreational playground and provides fun for all! In the wintertime, the lake transforms into a wintery wonderland and community gathering spot. Indulge in the nostalgic feelings and experience these iconic cold-weather pastimes!

At the John Evdokimoff Community Park, which is just up across the road from the lake, there is an amazing family, fun-for-all play area! A new playground, outdoor games area, an all-skills bike park, and a covered picnic area. All of these, make for a great winter play place with an exceptional view of White Lake. You will also find the White Lake-Balmoral connector hiking trail linking the two communities of White Lake and Blind Bay.
