Two of my favorite, summertime wines. Ortega has aromas of peach and elderflower with a taste of sweet grapefruit, a refreshing experience! And Marg’s Rosé , floral aromas of strawberries, raspberries and Gala apples.

Celista Estate Winery is an amazing gem in the North Shuswap and encompasses the natural fortunes of life in the Shuswap. I was so lucky to have had a visit to Celista Winery recently and reap its tranquility and welcoming hospitality!

The colorful and award-winning wines are fresh and aromatic and absolutely wonderful! The locally-sourced delicacies are delicious and beautifully presented, but perhaps my favorite part was its natural, gorgeous raw setting and the story of the people that had this dream in the first place.
Margaret had a dream. And Jake built that dream with her. Living in Yellowknife in the North West Territories, they were looking for a life to which they could retire too and perhaps escape the cold hardships that come with living so far North. A 160-acre parcel of Shuswap perfection found them and it was here that the dream came to life. Maybe serendipitous and certainly with loads of determination, the story Jake tells, lends its self to the true nature, that this was their calling! And through the community, the right people came at the right time. They grew this dream together and years later, the same fella they met years ago is still their winemaker today. Jake speaks proudly of these community relationships. His heart is clearly passionate and his love of the land, the Shuswap, the vineyard, the wine, and most of his late wife, Margaret resonates with listeners. You leave here a little changed, at least I did because I think we all have a dream. This one was truly enchanting.
The vineyard encompasses 7 acres of farm land. The vineyard will expand by 9 more acres soon and another 9 acres shortly after that. Views of Shuswap Lake and the Shuswap Highlands seen in the distance.

Celista Estate Winery is nestled in the heart of the North Shuswap. A picturesque community that is surrounded by mountains, a sparkling waterscape, and a diverse forest. This is Canada’s most northern grape winery! The vineyard is lush and astir with life, panoramic views of Shuswap Lake and the Shuswap Highlands adorn the landscape. The gardens are in bloom and visitors are welcomed by a pathway lined with Margaret’s velvety and perfectly placed peonies. The gazabo is a heavenly place to take in the views, listen to the stories, and enjoy the moment!

A journey to the Celista Estate Winery is the perfect getaway! Cabins are available to book and would be perfect for a family reunion or a wedding!
The adorable “Writers Cabin” is graced with beautiful artwork from a lifetime ago in the Northwest Territories. Margaret owned an art gallery in Yellowknife prior to life on a dreamy vineyard! The Writers Cabins architecture is reminiscent of an old B.C. fire lookout, with 360 views of the surrounding land. Look to the northeast and the infamous hump of Mt. Fowler, also known as Grizzly mountain boldly prevails. Here, you are at the base of the Monashee Mountains. These peaks and ridges are accessible to backcountry enthusiasts and offer a large range of recreational activities, including hiking, backcountry skiing, ATVing and snowmobiling. This is not only a wine lover’s paradise, this is an explorer’s dream!

This is the main house, a beautiful log home built for Margaret and Jake.
I just loved the wooden carvings, they reminded me of my own family and history in the Yukon!

Wine tours are $5.00 per person. Wednesdays & Saturdays at 11 am and include the Vineyard, Winery, and Tasting Room.
